Stina Plavac Barrique is produced from the most valuable and most famous indigenous red varieties Plavac, and represents an excellent example for the introduction of the value and the potential of this variety. The fruitiness is preserved and expressed,while the tannins has been tamed and softened. The color is dark red ruby, characteristic of Plavac, and the impact of wood obtained by aging in barriques is very nicely crafted. This Wine will not leave anyone indifferent. The vineyards are located on the southern slopes of the island of Brac in the vicinity of Bol. There Plavac growing on typical vineyards on limestone soils with plenty of skeletons or stones. The vineyards are of different ages. Due to the specific varieties and environmental conditions of production the need for protection is minimal. The grapes are harvested by hand and relatively late in order to better maturation of polyphenols in berries. The fermentation of must for the production of this wine takes place in stainless steel tanks under strictly controlled conditions. Maceration of grapes lasts from two to three weeks, thereby improving the structure of the wine. It is essential that the grapes are at the optimum maturity, so that the tannins are soft and ripe and the natural fruitness perserved. The wine after fermentation and malolactic ages 8-10 months in French barriques barrels used 2 to 3 years. The aim is to soften the tannins in the wine matures in barriques, while using used barrels provide optimal impact of wood in wine. Time barkirane notes only complement the natural fruitiness of the wine. After aging follows bottling in which is stored at least 6 months before marketing.
