The cheese dairy "Sirana Stone" from Nunić in the municipality of Kistanje produces the cheese from its own sheep breeding. The cheese is produced in a purely ecological manner.
Only five years ago, the owners, the Blaić family from Šibenik, opted for organic agriculture and livestock instead of tourism. Today they have a herd of currently 550 local Dalmatian Pramenka sheep and have a grazing area of 93 hectares.
Keeping animals in particular is difficult and demanding, but the effort has been worth it. Today the organic trade Stone employs six people, four of whom are shepherds and two work in the cheese dairy.
They produce three tons of cheese a year from raw, unpasteurized sheep's milk.
