The family business Vidas has been producing Pag cheese since 1887 - a traditional sheep's cheese from the island of Pag. The cheese is still produced today according to the original recipe of 1887. The family owns about 200 sheep, which belongs to a small breed of sheep that lives on the island of Pag. Since only a little grass grows on the karstic ground of the island of Pag, the sheep mainly feed on wild and salty herbs, which gives the cheese its special aroma. It ripens for four to six months and is air-dried.
